Broccoli
A distinctively flavored green vegetable
with a high nutritional value, and appetizingly tender if used before
the stems become fibrous. After harvesting the main centre head, most
garden varieties continue to produce edible side shoots for several
weeks.

Requirements to Grow Broccoli
-
Broccoli needs at least two-thirds sun
and limey well-drained soil as suggested for cabbages.

Planting time for Growing Broccoli
-
As broccoli needs to mature during cool
conditions it is unsuitable for tropical districts. In temperate areas
it needs to be planted out by mid-autumn. Therefore, if planting from
seed, it should be sown by February. In cool districts planting times
are much the same but slightly later plantings are also satisfactory
where there is a long cool spring.
