Requirements for Growing Rockmelon and
Cantaloup
-
Rockmelons are at their best in dry
inland climates but some of the new dwarf types and particularly Hale's
Best which is resistant to downy mildew grow well in coastal areas.
Some varieties, e.g. Honeydew, have much better flavor when grown in
hot, dry districts, and may lose some of their flavor should wet or
humid conditions occur when the fruit is ripening.
-
Planting time for Growing Rockmelon and
Cantaloup
-
Similar to marrows, except that most
varieties take about 1 month longer to mature, therefore sowing should
cease 1 month earlier in both temperate and cool climates.
