Problem of Tumbler Compost Bin |
||
|
With the definite exception the above container I find that the greatest problem with other compost pits, heaps or bins is to keep them moist enough, particularly during summer. Once you have a heap or dry leafy material it is difficult to wet it evenly, So spread it out and saturate it before heaping, From then on just lightly water when the outside of the heap looks dry, Sogginess gives a soul ferment. Excessive water is also wasteful because it leaches valuable nutrients from the compost. For this reason, cover heaps or open bins against heavy rains.
