It is never too early to plan ahead for the winter. The same goes for your garden. Winterizing plan need to be taken care of early falls.
While we start to go through the fall, keep an eye for the stink bugs. These bugs love to inhabit on peppers, beans, tomatoes and all kinds of fruit varieties. Check carefully and take the proper measures required to ensure it is not causing too much damages.
Start to plan on which plant will need to be moved in-doors. Sketch out and clear the space for these plants. Also, it is a good time to think about what you would like to have in your garden next year. Planning ahead and you will know how to prepare the soil for next year. Get a pH kit to test the soil and treat your soil accordingly. These treatment takes times and now is a great time for it stabilize. Healthy soil is important and it is also the best defense against the pest that can invade your garden.
Fall is also a good time to start a compost bin. Clean up all the dead plants and rake the leaves. Put it all into the compost bin, these will turn out to be useful when the time is up as it is the best nutrition for your soil.
Check all the young trees and tender plants, some will need extra protection so that it can withstand the wind and cold weather. Some tress would need to be wrapped with protectors.
